Our Story
Take My Hand Uganda (TMHU) is a registered 501(c)(3)non-profit organization based in Winston-Salem, NC.
TMHU was founded in 2014 when God led the Klinchuch Family from Winston Salem to Uganda to adopt their daughter. Their time spent at her orphanage impacted and changed their lives forever. While at the orphanage, they connected with Fred, a dedicated Ugandan volunteer and Julie, a missionary from Maryland. Having been a sponsored child himself, Fred dedicates his life to serving others. He was vital in helping navigate the tumultuous adoption process.
Shortly after returning home to the US with their daughter, the orphanage abruptly closed leaving over 40 children completely abandoned. Feeling called to help, Fred reached out to Bryan and Julie. Their goal was to provide places to stay and enough food to feed them.
Thus the TMHU Sponsorship Program was born, providing boarding school education and stability for 28 children.
With the help of dedicated volunteers, sponsors and corporate involvement we have sustained this unique organization. We continue to set new goals to help these kids thrive and succeed.
We believe that every child has the potential to succeed, and we are committed to helping them do so. By providing them with the tools and resources they need to thrive, we empower them to define their own future and change the world.
